THE COLORS ARE POSTED
"Oh say can you see, by the dawn's early light, what so proudly we hailed
              at the twilight's

last gleaming.  Whose

broad stripes and bright

stars through the

perilous fight, o'er the

ramparts we watched

were so gallantly

streaming
and the rocket's red

glare, the bombs

bursting in air, gave

proof through the night
that our flag was still there.  Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave, O'er the

land of the free, and the home of the brave."
"I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of
America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation
UNDER GOD,
indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."
                                        INVOCATION BY                                                        CANDLE LIGHTING

   CHAPLAIN BERGER, USN                                 HONORING  FALLEN HEROES
Hats off!
Along the street there comes
A blare of bugles, a ruffle of drums,
A flash of color beneath the sky:
Hats off!
The flag is passing by!
Blue and crimson and white it shines,
Over the steel-tipped, ordered lines.
Hats off!
The colors before us fly;
But more than the flag is passing by.
Sea-fights and land-fights, grim and great,
Fought to make and to save the State:
Weary marches and sinking ships;
Cheers of victory on dying lips;
Days of plenty and years of peace;
March of a strong land's swift increase;
Equal justice, right, and law,
Stately honor and reverend awe;
Sign of a nation, great and strong
Toward her people from foreign wrong:
Pride and glory and honor,--all
Live in the colours to stand or fall.
Hats off!
Along the street there comes
A blare of bugles, a ruffle of drums;
And loyal hearts are beating high:
Hats off!

and guide her, through the night with the light from
above.  From the

mountains, thru the

prairie, to the ocean
white with foam, GOD

bless America, my home

sweet home, GOD bless

America, my home sweet

GOD bless America my home sweet home."

THE COLORS RETIRE
Anchors Aweigh my boys,
Anchors Aweigh
It is farewell to foreign shores,
We sail at break of day day day day
Off we go into the wild blue yonder,
Climbing high into the sun;
Here they come zooming
to meet our thunder,
At 'em boys, giv'er the gun . . .
From North and South
and East and West,
The Coast Guard's in the fight.
Destroying subs and landing troops,
The Axis feels our might . . .
From the halls of Montezuma
To the shores of Tripoli,
We fight our country's battles
In the air, on land, and sea. . .
"Over hill, over dale, We have hit the dusty trail, And those Caissons go rolling along.
In and out, hear them shout, Counter march and right about, And the Caissons go rolling along.
Then it's hi! hi! hee! In the field artillery, Shout out your numbers loud and strong,
For where e'er you go, You will always know, That the Caissons go rolling along."
ARMED FORCES MEDLEY
STARS AND STRIPES FOREVER
Hurrah for the flag of the free.
May it wave as our standard forever
The gem of the land and the sea,
The banner of the right.
Let despots remember the day
When our fathers with mighty endeavor
Proclaimed as they marched to the fray,
That by their might and by their right
It waves forever.
    The armed forces medleys ran our blood wild especially while sounding
off (
hollering) out the lyrics of our Army Anthem, but nothing compared to
the thunder that overwhelmingly tidal-waved the USS Hornet with John
Phillip Sousa's memorable
Stars and Stripes Forever.  These two charming
young ladies simultaneously performed the blood rushing and chirping
obbligato accompaniment of the piccolo solo that we all so well
recognize.--Julio

     As for the Army Song...  Great description!  I just about came unglued when I saw all
of you jumping, climbing over each other and shouting out the lyrics.  It was the
highlight of the event.  The band was smiling for days after that.
